BT Van

During Mission 7, Filthy Business, Hammond is required to go to Grosvenor Place and pick up a BT (British Telecommunications) van that is waiting there for him, with workers overalls inside which he changes into. He must then drive the van to Snow Hill police station, but first he has to take out the real BT van which is on it's way there to do some work. Basically you have to ram it off the road so that it never arrives at the police station (which would blow your disguise), you can kill the driver if you wish but it is not required to complete the mission. Once you get inside the police station, masquearading as a BT engineer, your mission objective is to find and kill DCI McCormack, a corrupt police officer.

It seems that BT didn't approve of having their company associated with this violence and when they found out they quickly complained, so Sony re-released the game with the BT van edited out of the game.

In the orginal PAL release of 'The Getaway' (often referred to as 'PAL Version 1'), the telephone repair van is a realistic looking Telecom Grey Ford Transit complete with accurate BT logos. The edited re-release (PAL Version 2) apparently features a plain white van instead.

This is a BT Shop in the game. I'm not sure whether or not this had to be removed also. I can't believe the van caused such a stir..

All I have to say is.. I have the original unedited version, so sucked in BT!!
